The Dude and I toyed around with the idea of making you wait until January, when we go to my friends' wedding - then the first picture that we posted could have been one with us all dressed up and looking spiffy. But, that's not us. Anyone who knows me *knows* that I hate girl clothes, and that I'm more likely to be found in old sweats and a ponytail. So instead of waiting and seeing us all spiffed up, you get to see the real us - goofy expressions and all!
But don't worry - we'll post some spiffy pictures in January too.
So, without further ado, I present to you....
Yes, I know, he's wearing Dallas crap. I've tried to get him to see the error of his ways, but he's stubborn. *sigh* At least it gives us something to bicker about.
We waited for a while before introducing the kids to him. But, they took to him immediately (including the older 3, who just didn't happen to be around tonight when I got camera-happy).
Now, before everyone wants to know details....
I am not going to go into specifics about how we met or how long we've been going out or anything like that - because no matter what I say, someone will not approve of something. We have been going out long enough to know that this is not going to be a short-term thing, and we waited what we felt was an appropriate amount of time before bringing the kids into it. We both know and understand that the kids' best interests come before ours do - and given some of the things that my kids have already been through, I will do everything in my power to prevent them from being hurt again. The Dude knows how I feel about that - we have spent literally hours at a time talking about a lot of different things, and we are on the same page about the kids.
And we are on the same page about us. We've both been through a lot of crap to get to where we are now - and we both believe wholeheartedly in open communication (and a lot of it). I have avoided getting into a relationship for a long time for many different reasons, but like everyone has been telling me, apparently when you're least expecting it (or totally not looking for it), it happens.
So, it's happening. And now you have photographic proof.
Finally, some goofy pictures of us together....
Cowboys, really?
ReplyDeleteB
You look so happy! YAY! I'm so happy for you Ames!! Can't wait to meet him!
ReplyDeleteAlyssa
B - I know, I know. But he has to have a flaw, right? He can't be totally perfect....
ReplyDeleteAlyssa - you will meet him! We just have to figure out when we can get down your direction!
Couldn't be happier for you Amy!! and Dude :)
ReplyDeleteYay Amy and the Dude!!!!!!!

So happy for you! I personally don't care if you met last night at a Marilyn Manson concert, lol! Glad you are happy, and have someone to take the trash out.
ReplyDeleteYou look so happy! What a fantastic smile you have! Best wishes!!
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! This is GREAT!!! (And I wouldn't have found fault or lectured you!!) But...can we please know his first name? I really don't like calling him "Dude"! Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you both! And many happy years together!
Katie
Cowboys aren't the end of the world. My dude
ReplyDeleteSwears by them no matter how much they suck
Teehee

Yea from Pa and all) and kick his ass. :) love u.
- ur cousin Amanda
Super happy for you both! I love the cowboys, too!
ReplyDeleteAmy...as Ross would say.."nicely done"!!! :) You look SO happy and I am SO happy for you!!! YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I must say that I got a kick out of seeing all these kind hearted pro- nonstop mom semi veiled threats against my personal well being, should I ever be a idiot. Warms my heart to know so many people have this lady's interests at heart.
ReplyDeleteWho am I? I'm the Dude!
How was that for a debut folks?
I'm going to try and address as many of the comments I can under 500 words. Yes, I'm a Cowboys fan, been that way since '88... what does that prove? That I'm disgustingly loyal, even if times aren't all that great (sometimes, I really miss the early 90's!)
To Granny... to maintain my pg-13 appearance, I'm going to say that a Teddy is a fluffy stuffed bear that is cuddly and passes no judgement as I drift off to sleep! BTW, I'm far more intimidated by the idea of a red scooter flying fast from Florida than I am of a broomstick beatdown. LOL
To Alyssa, it's all a matter of Amy's telling me the time and we'll get there, I'm easy that way!
To the Anonymous momma of 3, never give up hope, because after all the heartache, I managed to find the woman I've always been looking for. Sometimes you have to go through some things that suck in order to appreciate it when something or someone fantastic comes your way.
To the poster known as... well, Unknown... regardless of the interesting looks I've gotten, I've taken out the trash already!
Finally, to the Nonstop mom herself. Everyday, I get to discover more things about you and your family, little differences, things in common, all of which makes each day fun, exciting. There isn't anything I can say that does the feelings inside justice, but I'll try: I'm amazed by your strength, I have so much respect for the daily struggles you overcome and I find myself stuck with a goofy grin that's packed to the brim with joy when I realize that you're willing to share all these things with me.
I believe we're right for each other and am going to spend each day providing as many examples of this as possible.
Being with you, being a part of your life, as I've told you, makes me better.
And the Dude....I mean Kerry... has spoken!
ReplyDeletecongrats to you both on hanging in there and putting the kidlets first...
The very best of everything to BOTH of you!
Mare
Smiling from ear to ear seeing how happy you are. I remember that smile from HS when times weren't always so hard and all we needed to overcome was whether or not the phone was going to ring for us. So so so glad to see you happy!
ReplyDeleteLove this Post, and I love THE DUDE'S Comment.
ReplyDeleteSmiling and Tearing Up.
So Lovely!
DUDE,
ReplyDeleteI HAD A GREAT NIGHTS SLEEP JUST KNOWING OUR AMY [BB] IS HAPPY AND HAS SOMEONE TO SHARE HER THOUGHTS. I LOVE THE NAME KERRY BUT I THINK I'LL STICK TO THE NAME "DUDE". I ALWAY LOVED THE THE DALLAS COWBOYS. BACK IN THE DAY, A FRIEND OF MINE PLAYED FOR THEM. GRAMPS IS A BUCS FAN. MY LITTLE RED SCOOTER IS LIKE THE ONES YOU SEE ON TV, IF YOU CAN'T PAY FOR IT YOUR INSURANCE WILL PAY. WELL I PAID FOR MINE. THANKS FOR CHATTING WITH US. NOW GET OUT IN THE KITCHEN AND DO THE DISHES. LOL. ONE MORE THING THE PICTURES OF YOU INTERACTING WITH THOSE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYES. IT TELLS ME ALOT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER. [A 10].
GRANNY
Does this mean you will stop stalking me on twitter?
ReplyDeleteDaddy's in Charge? - oh no, I'm just going up to the stalker factor, just for you! ;)
ReplyDeleteAmy-sigh...just as I was going to make a snarky comment about the Cowboys gear (all in good fun, well, sort of!) I read The Dude's comment...another sigh...what a guy...sigh...
ReplyDeleteLOL! Ok, I will get ahold of myself and stop this! But seriously, so very happy for you both. I wish you well on this journey.
And sorry for the almost-snarky comments regarding the cowboys...my man is a HUGE Giants fan so needless to say the game last night was heard around the world, well from NYC to California to my ears at least! ;-)
HUGS, Beth
thanks for sharing with us Amy
Beth, that Giants vs. Cowboys game last night was a real nail-biter! I like both teams though so I was ok. LOL
ReplyDeleteKerry, thank you for letting us know your real first name! Maybe it's an east coast thing (not wanting to call you "The Dude"). Your post was great. Sounds like you have good values and priorities. So far (hee hee). Thank you for making our Amy and her kids so happy! And I'm glad you're happy, too. :)
Katie
:) These posts make me happy. I love you.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are all awesome! :) So glad that we could make everyone happy by "outing" ourselves on here! LOL Seriously though, thank you everyone for the support. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteAnd to Kerry: To put it simply, thank you. For taking a chance, for putting up with me, and for making me smile. You are amazing.
:)
Oh Ames! You deserve this!!! I <3 this dude!!! He sounds great....Dude- Dont mess it up! Mmk??
ReplyDeleteOh and if he has a bro, send him here!!!
-kells!
I know I'm showing my general lack of coolness here, but I have no clue what MMK is supposed to mean!
ReplyDeleteAmy, we're both taking a chance, but I don't really see it as that, more like an opportunity. I don't want to get too mushy, but I don't know if you could make me any happier than I already am, just being with you!
uhh cowboys.. :\
ReplyDeletei feel your pain on that one, BF has the same disorder. we're trying to work through it together, but you just can't help someone until they are ready and willing to help themselves. *sighs*
on a happier note, you guys look so adorable together!! i'm happy for you, happy that you found your Dude, and happy that you're sharing all of these wonderful things with us <3
