Nothing terribly exciting happened today, and for us, that's generally a good thing.
I had two main objectives for the day: mow the trees and find the stench in the fridge/freezer.
Mowing the trees....ah, I love my yard. NOT. When I say that I'm "mowing the trees" I get some strange looks. But seriously, look at this:
Those are trees. I don't know what kind. I think someone told me locust trees. All I know is that they're little offshoots from the bigger ones in front of my house, and I hate them. They are everywhere.
Don't believe me? Look at my flowerbed (before & after I cleaned it out. Again. I just did this about a week ago.)
But at least once the trees are mowed down, it does look better. For a day or two, then the trees grow up over the grass again.
The boys kept themselves amused while I finished mowing.
Oh, and mowing a yard that has lots of patches of dirt in it when there's a wind advisory means that the person doing the mowing comes out filthy dirty. Really.
That post-mowing shower felt so good.
After we got done doing that, Daniel had to go to the doctor for his pre-school physical. Assuming that I can get all of the financial BS worked out and he can still go, he had to have the physical done first. Everything with that was fine, other than his hearing. He needs to go for some more testing for that, so we need to get that done ASAP before his insurance gets cancelled. It's always got to be something.
I don't know what it is with my fridge/freezer, but for the past week or so there has been a steadily growing stench coming from it. Now, I'll admit that I'm not the best at getting rid of leftovers in a timely manner, but I've been doing better. Add to that the fact that the stench was just as strong in the freezer, and I was a bit confused.
Anyway, I pulled it out today and cleaned behind and under it and didn't find anything overly gross - just the nasty pan of condensation water (that didn't stink) so I cleaned that out and dried it. I took everything out of the freezer and scrubbed it, and then did the same with the fridge. There was no rotten food in there at all - but I did determine that the smell is actually coming from the air that circulates within the fridge/freezer. If I open the door and it's not running, it's not that bad - but as soon as it kicks on and starts circulating the air, it's awful. I'm kind of wondering if there isn't something down in the fan or motor or whatever it is that runs the thing. But regardless, I'm calling the landlord tomorrow. Hopefully he'll do something about it.
We also had a few storms roll through this evening. They weren't bad by any means, but we did get some hail:
Rumor has it that the last photo was actually on The Weather Channel tonight - but since I don't have cable, I didn't get to see it. Boo!
So anyway, like I said, not a spectacular day by any stretch of the imagination, but just another day in our lives. Now that the boys are in bed, I need to finish up some laundry, clean up the kitchen, and do some other stuff around the house.
Maybe I'll be more entertaining tomorrow. ;)
