Fuzzy's Reconstructive Surgery

Over the past few days, I had the opportunity to work on a really fun project. A friend of mine contacted me about her daughter's doll - "Fuzzy". Her daughter received this doll on the day that her adoption was official - about 8 years ago. She has loved this doll well, and it showed!

I have done minor repairs on dolls before, but nothing to this extent so I was a little nervous going into it. My mother made dolls when I was growing up, so I had observed all of this being done but had never really done it myself. But all in all, I'm happy with how it came out!

Fuzzy, before her very own Extreme Makeover

She had lost her nose somewhere along the way.

And she may have taken the phrase "flying by the seat of your pants" a little too seriously.

Her hair was a bit rough...

...and she had some pretty serious thin spots.

The first step was the removal of her scalp.

Then she received a scalp transplant....

...and the hair implant began.

New wardrobe!

New hair!

New nose!

A very happy little girl!

  4. A TEAR FELL. I HAVE A TENDER HEART.I HAVE WW2 DOLLS THAT NEED REAL REDOING.[BARE AND CHIPPED] THEIR IN A BOX AND ALWAY FIGURED IT WOULD COST LOTS OF MONEY TO RESTORE THEM SO I NEVER DID. MAYBE WHEN I GO TO HEAVEN I'LL TAKE THEM WITH ME.AS IS.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE ADOPTED DOLL BEING REMADE IS IT WAS DONE BY THE BEST MOM. HER NAME IS AMY. MAYBE THE LITTLE GIRL WILL RENAME IT AMY. SWEET. YOU KNOW SOMETHING AMY. YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL GIFT AND I BET YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT. I HOPE THAT ONE DAY YOUR KIDS WILL SAY TO YOU, JOB WELL DONE. A GREAT BIG HUG BECAUSE THERE ARE TIMES I BET YOU NEED ONE.

  5. Thanks everyone! It was a really fun project to do, and to do it for this particular little girl meant a lot to me.

Granny, those dolls of yours are probably worth some money - I would take them somewhere and have them appraised before doing anything with them, because restoring them might ruin any value (other than the sentimental value). And thank you for the hug! :)

I have only two rules - don't reveal anyone's personal information, and be respectful. It's not difficult, honest. Now, go on and play.
