Unplanned productivity

So I mentioned the other day that I wanted to get the suitcases and coolers put away from the trip, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

The kids and I spent part of the day running around, finishing up some school shopping and doing some errands, and when we got home I was determined to get the suitcases off of the front porch.

When I opened the garage door, this is what greeted me:

Ugh. Really???

Obviously, I've gotten into the habit of chucking things in there and slamming the door shut, with the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality.

So I thought that I'd straighten it up a bit. You know, just to make room for the suitcases.

Well, if I'm straightening up, I might as well hang up this pegboard stuff that I got from freecycle so that I can actually organize some of the tools and get them off of the dirt floor.

Found a couple of *ahem* treasures.

And in the end came out hot, sweaty, filthy, and smelly, but my garage is somewhat organized.

The kids weren't happy that I "forced" them to play outside while I was working on this, but they got even more filthy dirty than I did so I think they got over it. When we came in, the girls gave the boys baths while I made supper, and now they're eating and watching a movie. As soon I hit "post" on this, I am hightailing it to the shower myself. I stink.

  1. Well done! I feel like some of the most productive days I have are the ones where I actually don't get what I wanted accomplished, but instead found an entirely new project. Did your suitcases/coolers get taken care of?

I need to work on the idea of my kids helping out with bath/bed time...That's genious! :)

  2. Thanks Mama Spaghetti!

Laney, yes, if you look by the bikes, the red cooler is right there, with the little green cooler inside it. And the big black garbage bag cube behind those is composed of my suitcases! LOL

The only way that the girls helped with the baths is that I told them that no one was eating until at least the boys were bathed, and the quickest way to make that happen was for them to help the boys while I cooked. I was amazed that it worked as well as it did. LOL
