Happy 4th of July!

It's been a fun weekend....but I am soooo tired.

We (Alex and Daniel and I) went to two parties yesterday and put a total of 117 miles in to do it. We went to my niece's (sort of) 7th birthday party and then to a Fourth of July party. The weather was a bit sketchy at first, but at least the rain that came through at the last minute made fireworks just a little bit safer.

I only had the older 3 kids for the day today, so we went out and bought a few fireworks to do during the day. Our personal favorite was the classic smoke bomb - the kids could set them off without a real danger of having them blow up, and the smoke actually looked pretty cool in the daylight.

Even Daniel got into lighting them (with help from the girls) and quickly learned to run away as soon as the fuse started sparking!

Jared got creative and was able to light the fuses of two different colored smoke bombs at one time. He thought he was pretty darned cool at that point!

Sparklers just aren't as impressive in the daylight. Just sayin'.

Neither are fireworks in general.

But all in all, it was a good weekend. The older 3 kids are back with their father and stepmother, and the 2 younger ones are hanging out here watching movies before going to bed. I have some cleaning and laundry to do (go figure) and then I *might* try to call it a night earlier than usual.

We'll see if that happens or not!

  2. Thank you, and same to you!

I haven't gotten anything done, thanks to my neighbor cornering me while I was outside videotaping late-night fireworks in the neighborhood.....two hours later, I was finally able to come inside. *sigh*

Good thing is that Alex was up until after 12:30am - maybe he'll sleep past 7am.

    Who am I kidding?

  3. Looks like fun! My boys are scared of fireworks so we don't do them. We spent the day cooking, eating and playing computer games together!

Happy belated 4th to you and yours!

  4. Yeah, we decided that we actually need the 5th of July off. I mean, who actually does anything during the day on the 4th? And now I'm dead stinking tired from being up so late!
