Getting stressed.

I'm still trying to get ready for this road trip this weekend, and I just feel like I'm treading water and not getting anywhere.

Really, there isn't that much that I *have* to do. But it's just enough that when added on to the normal stuff that I do everyday, it gets to be a bit overwhelming. I've been trying to get the house cleaned up (a perpetually lost cause) and trying to make all of the last minute arrangements that need to be made for me to even be able to escape the city limits for a measly 36 hours.

Not to mention that I get a little anxious in social situations. I'm not terrified to walk into a room full of people, but I'm not exactly comfortable doing it either - and honestly, if The Dude wasn't going with me, I'd probably be a total basketcase by now. So, to deal with the anxiety, I run around like an idiot trying to stay busy in order to forget about it. Doesn't always work, by the way.

Today was spent cleaning (go figure) and doing laundry (surprise!) and making a bazillion oatmeal cookies for a certain little boy's birthday tomorrow and spending a little bit of time with The Dude this afternoon, then running to basketball practice and everything else in between.

I officially declared tonight "Stromboli Night" because well, I was in the mood for it. And it's usually something that the kids will eat without too many complaints. They did eat it too - not one bite of leftovers. Woot!

I have come to the conclusion that the only way for me to survive basketball practice with my sanity somewhat intact is to have Alex take a bunch of books. He has a reading log that he is supposed to complete, and he's been severely lacking in that department. He can read, but he fights it because he doesn't like to sit still long enough to get through even a short book. But it seems to help him at practice, and he doesn't run around like a spaz the whole time.

Of course, there are other items in my survival kit....

Tonight, I still have to get the kitchen cleaned up and get the girls' laundry folded and straighten up in general. Tomorrow, it's up early to get the older 4 off to school, then Daniel and I are going to run to a friend's house in Wichita to borrow a bra for the wedding (sorry guys if that's TMI) and then I'll take him to school and try to get some other things done. I still need to clean out the inside of the rolling landfill van and do some other stuff to get ready for the weekend.

I probably should make a cake for Alex too....darn it, I forgot about that. *sigh* I can do that tomorrow.

Never enough hours in the day.
