Well that didn't work out as planned....

We fully intended to spend the day at the lake today. It was another gorgeously hot day without a cloud in the sky and it was absolutely perfect lake weather. So we packed up all of our lake paraphernalia and made the 10 mile drive.

And when we got there, we were greeted by this:

Yep, that's right. Our lake is now closed because of a blue-green algae bloom. This happened last summer too, and it's a total bummer - it'll probably stay closed until we get some really really good rain. Funny thing is that we were there on Thursday, and they shut it down on Friday. Greeeeeeeeat..... but, if we were going to get sick, we'd be sick by now. I think.

Anyway, needless to say, we were less than impressed, so we came back home to figure out what to do. The public pool had only 90 minutes of public swim today, so it really wasn't worth the money to go there. So instead, we decided to head down to the splash pad.

The girls weren't thrilled with that idea, because let's face it, a splash pad is pretty lame for older kids. But, they got to get wet and play and run around and act like freaks for a while.

She got bored with the water. How does that happen?

Then, the splash pad broke. It just quit working. It's set to a timer, and it runs for so long and then shuts off, but if you touch the sensors or move the cannons, it starts up again. We did everything that we could, and couldn't get it to turn back on again. Disgusted, we walked across the street to a playground. The kids needed to dry off anyway, and they had a blast.

Gotta' love those crappy phone pictures - hopefully I'll either get my camera fixed or get a new one soon....

We got home, started baths, then had to run Sarah to a youth group thing at church, came back home, finished baths, picked Sarah up, got some ice cream, came home....and I finally got the chance to sit down and actually do some sewing. I'm working on 64 blocks for a block swap, and it's been one thing after another trying to get these things done. But hopefully I'll get them done in the next few days and get them mailed off to the coordinator.

Tomorrow, I officially start picking sand plums. We went out scoping our friends' property again today, and there are so many more than I had originally thought - and they are already ready to be picked. The next month is going to be crazy.....

Oh wait. It's always crazy around here. Ugh.

I have only two rules - don't reveal anyone's personal information, and be respectful. It's not difficult, honest. Now, go on and play.
