Spammers of the world, unite!

For whatever reason, over the past month or so, spammers have been hitting my blog big time! Seriously - my phone beeps at me constantly saying that I have a new email, and when I look to see what it is, it's almost always a comment on my blog.

But it's not a "real" comment. It's spam. Luckily, one thing that Blogger is pretty good at is catching the spam and immediately hiding it, so you all don't usually get to see them. To me it's still a toss-up as to whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, because some of them are really kind of humorous.

Rorschach test?
Now, I could eliminate these completely by making everyone who leaves a comment deal with the "captcha" thingee - but I figure that since I can't read those things to save my life, I'm not going to make anyone else do it either. Seriously, I understand that they're supposed to be a little tricky to read, but most of the ones that I've seen lately have been all but impossible for me. (So, if you have a blog, and I haven't been commenting lately, and you have a captcha on it, that's probably why.)

I could also eliminate the option to post anonymously - but that takes some of the fun out of it too. I took that away for a while because of the people who were harassing me, but some of my friends still comment anonymously too. Now, if they'd actually create accounts to use....*hint hint*.....

However, for your reading pleasure tonight, I'm going to give you just a sampling of the comments that I have gotten on one post in particular - and what's funny is that these comments didn't really start until over a year after I wrote it!

    1. LOL I know! I'm thankful that 99% of them go to the spam folder, but they do get annoying.

  2. I have found wordpress is really good for filtering out all of the spam on a blog. Blogger is a bit too reliant on the horrible google recaptcha sometimes. I am really glad you have decided against installing captchas! They always put me off commenting on a blog! I have recently started using captcha bypass browser extension software called rumola to enter them for me. Works a treat and I would recommend it to any captcha haters!

Also, loving the little collection of spam you posted. Very funny!

I have only two rules - don't reveal anyone's personal information, and be respectful. It's not difficult, honest. Now, go on and play.
