Loving the weather....

We are finally getting rain. And this time, I mean real honest-to-goodness rain. It's been raining all day long, and I am LOVING it!

Just to give you an idea - this is the current radar image for this area...it's the most colorful radar image I've seen for this area in months!

Daniel and I ran to Wichita this evening, and we went through some pretty heavy downpours.

And I just have to post this one. A few years ago, some genius decided that it would be a brilliant idea to put roundabouts in at the interstate exits here. OK, in concept, they're great. But they made them too small. Tractor-trailers can not get around them without running up on the sidewalks every. single. time. It's stupid.

Bottom line is I'm thankful for the rain. We need it so badly here and I am not complaining one bit that we are finally getting some. However, it probably will result in me doing much less walking this week (I did a total of 21.93 miles last week!) and it's also going to make my new walking paths impassable, unless I want to slide through the mud down a steep embankment - sorry, but that's not on my list of fun things to do! Although it would make for an interesting blog post.....

Anyway, Alex did end up going with his father for a few hours this evening, which allowed me and Daniel to do our run to Wichita - but the details of that trip are going to remain a secret for a little while yet. ;) Suffice it to say that we had fun, and I may (or may not) spill the beans at some point....ok, I probably will, but not yet.

So now, I am going to go do some cleaning, and maybe curl up on the couch and watch a movie or sew or something. I'm feeling the need to relax for a while.

  1. All I could picture when I read "slide through the mud down a steep embankment" was Romancing the Stone when they fall madly down the muddy mountain. LOL

  2. IT'S BEEN RAINNING SINCE YESTERDAY AND WILL FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. IT'S A NICE RAIN SO I DON'T MIND IT BUT I'M SURE THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE ON THE RIVERS WILL HAVE SOME FLOODING. THE ONLY THING FOR US IS TAKINE THE DOG OUT. HE DOSEN'T LIKE GOING OUT IN THE RAIN. HE HELD HIS POOPS SO LONG WHEN HE JUST FINALLY WENT,GRAMPS SAID, HE NEVER SAW SO MUCH. WHERE WE LIVE YOU HAVE TO PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG.IT DIDN'T MAKE FOR A HAPPY GRAMPS. I JUST LAUGH AND GO ABOUT MY BUSINESS. WHATS A GRANNY TO DO. YOUR RAINNING DAY ADVENTURE MAKES ME WONDER WHAT'S UP. IT IS FUN TO GO SHOPPING OR WHATEVER WITH JUST ONE CHILD SOMETIMES. THEY CAN UNLOAD ON YOU WITHOUT THE OTHER KIDS MOUTHING OFF. IT'S A SPECIAL TIME FOR THEM. MAYBE EVEN A TREAT OR TWO MAKES THEM HAPPIER, RIGHT?

ONE TIME YEARS AGO, GRAMPS AND I WERE DRIVING THROUGH YOUR STATE. WE STOPPED AT A GAS SATION ON A ROAD WHERE THERE WAS JUST NOTHING. ANYWAYS THAT WAS BACK IN THE DAY WHEN THEY WAITING ON YOU AND YOUR CAR. WHILE THE MAN HAD THE GAS PUMPING HE WAS WASHING OUR WINDOWS. I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW AND SAID TO HIM, I BET YOU HATE WASHING ALL THAT CRAP OFF THE WINDOWS. HE SAID BACK AT ME, I'M JUST GLAD COWS DON'T FLY. NEVER FORGOT THAT REPLY. I'VE USED THE SAYING MANY TIMES. LOL
