Craftiness Part II

So, as far as craft shows go, it was not a stellar day.

After paying for the booth, and a bag of ice for the cooler, and the gas to get there and back, I think I made about a $0.50 profit. Boo.

There just wasn't much traffic, but temperatures were right at 100 degrees for most of the day. As much as I love the heat, it was stifling when the breeze stopped.

But, on a good note, I got The Quilt done. Like done-done. And I really like it. I would like it even more if it had sold, but I still like it.

So here are a few more pictures from the day....

Everybody loves a parade...

The Quilt - finally finished!

Applesauce

Some of the soaps...

Some of the bags

Loving the contrast....

There is a very good possibility that I'll be doing another show next Saturday, but at least that one has free booth space. And I have ideas rolling around in my head of things that I can do to maybe increase sales a bit...there are so many things that I *want* to do, but right now all of those thoughts are just in a big jumbled mess rolling around in my brain.

And my brain has had very little sleep in the last week or so. And then it spent a lot of time outside in the hot, fresh air and bright shining sun today. So my brain is tired. The boys will be going to bed soon, and I will be following them. We have to be up early so that I can get them all fed and dressed and send the older 3 to church with their father and then the younger 2 and I can go to church.

Fireworks tomorrow at 10pm in town. Hmmmmm.....

  1. Wow! You do beautiful work. I *wish* I was a quilter. I even bought beautiful fabric for a quilt for my son in hopes that I could figure it out...but so far I'm just having no luck.

    Great work.

Though, sorry it wasn't much of a profitable day. I know how that goes...

  2. Thanks, Mama S!

I really love to do it, and my dream is to have a little shop someday with all of my stuff in it, but for right now I have to be satisfied with dragging it all out for the occasional craft show.

Quilting is one of those things for me that once I start on a project, I will not sleep until it is done! LOL I've been known to stay up all night just so that I can finish something. I'm weird like that.

  3. PUT SOME PRICES ON YOUR BLOG LIKE THE ARTIST DO. JUST MAYBE A PEEKER OR TWO WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOMETHING FROM YOU.GOOD IDEA, AT LEAST I THINK SO.

I'M SORRY YOUR DAY WAS HOT AND NOTHING TO REALLY SHOW FOR IT BUT THE NEXT ONE WILL BE BETTER. LOVE THE POCKETBOOKS. NEAT.

  5. Ever though of selling on ebay or sell them though your blog.. Maybe set that up but still go to shows with business cards pointing them to your blog, am sure more people wanted to buy but just didnt want to carry it all day.. I have that problem I'll see something not want to carry it then forget to get it on the way out..

  6. Chester, that is along the lines of what I'm thinking about doing. I'm just trying to decide if I want to use *this* blog for it, or if I want to create a new one that is more crafty-stuff-specific. This one has some pretty personal stuff in it, but that's a part of who I am and a part of why I do the crafty stuff - sort of the "back story" to the business.

    Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

  7. If thats what influences your art, I would say sell from here. I think more people would buy if items have a back story instead of generic type stuff..

I have only two rules - don't reveal anyone's personal information, and be respectful. It's not difficult, honest. Now, go on and play.
